Are you like me and love crunchy things? Like potato chips and tortilla chips? But we know that neither of these is very healthy for you. They are mainly simple carbohydrates and fried in oil that contains a not so healthy amount of saturated fat.
As kale became more and more popular, someone came up with a brilliant idea to add another way we can consume kale. And I love that someone for it. Because kale chips are the perfect crunchy snack that is also nutritious at the same time. Good things need to come in pairs more often!
Kale is definitely one of the healthiest and most nutrient-dense plant foods in the world today. It is loaded with all kinds of beneficial compounds that can provide some pretty powerful medicinal properties. However, if you are currently on a blood thinner medication for other health conditions, consuming a lot of kale or leafy greens in general that contains high amounts of vitamin K may not be the wisest thing to do.
A single cup of uncooked kale contains more than the total amount of vitamin A, C, and K that you need in a day. I think this alone should make you want to just eat a cup of kale each day! A cup of uncooked kale will also provide you with a generous serving of manganese, calcium, copper, potassium, and magnesium. All these vitamins and minerals are essential in ensuring the different systems in your body – digestive, detox, oxygen, and blood circulation etc. work properly and in harmony. [1]
In this kale chips recipe, I am using the curly green kale. You can use other types of kale as well such as red kale or lacinato kale. For seasonings, just like potato chips, feel free to use different spices each time you make this recipe.
Serve as finger food or enjoy as a snack but don’t forget to share!

- Preheat oven to 300F and place a sheet of parchment paper on a baking sheet.
- Take the kale and rip them into chip size pieces and place in a large mixing bowl.
- Drizzle with olive oil, salt, and garlic powder. Mix well with hands until the kales pieces are evenly coated.
- Place kale onto prepared sheet in an even layer. Bake for 10 minutes.
- Flip over the kale to cook the other sides of the pieces. Bake for another 10 minutes until the edges start turning a little brown.
- Monitor them well to make sure you don’t burn them.
Take care not to overdo it on the olive oil or else the kale chips will become too soggy.
