Antiviral Herbal Tea Recipe
My antiviral tea contains herbs that are well known for their medicinal properties. Oregano contains an active antiviral compound called carvacrol and it has been proven to be effective against viral infections. Sage contains safficinolide that has also been found to be effective against human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) which can lead to AIDS. Peppermint also contains several antiviral and anti-inflammatory compounds including menthol and rosmarinic acid. Rosemary contains an oleanolic acid, also an antiviral compound that can fight against influenza. Ginger root has been proven effective against avian influenza because of its high amounts of gingerols and zingerone. Fresh thyme contains very powerful antiviral properties and best of all, it adds a subtle lemony flavor to this tea. And green tea is a well-known anti-inflammatory, antiviral and antibacterial powerhouse herb. Either a green tea bag or matcha green tea bag will work very well in this recipe. Last but not least, a slice of lime or orange adds a truly refreshing scent to my antiviral herbal tea that will instantly calm you down with your first sniff.

Ingredients
Instructions
  1. Place each herb in a tea ball or strainer.
  2. Add the peppermint and green tea (fresh, loose or teabag).
  3. Place tea ball into your teapot or large cup. If using strainer, place strainer filled with the herbs over your large cup or teapot and add boiling water into the large cup or teapot.
  4. Let steep for about 5 to 10 minutes depending on how strong you like it to be.
  5. Strain tea and then add lime or orange slices before enjoying it.
